    Technique Tuesday

    Faux Shaving Cream

    1) Ink a bold image wheel (rather than a wheel with a line art image).

    2) Ink a bold image stamp with a complementary color. Don't worry about making sure that the stamp is evenly covered.

    3) Once your stamp is ready to go, kiss it with your wheel by swiping the wheel on the stamp. Twist your wrist as you tap, or use a side-to-side motion if you swipe. The key to creating the marble swirl is in this movement.

    4) Breathe onto the inked image to remoisten the ink, then stamp image.

  • You can also achieve a lovely marbled effect with only one color. To do this, simply kiss your stamp with an uninked wheel.

    Technique Tuesday

    Faux Metal

    1) Cut card stock to desired size and stamp a VersaMark pad over the entire piece. Sprinkle Gold or Silver Stampin' Emboss powder over card stock piece.

    2) Heat powder using heat tool. Sprinkle on additional powder while the image is still hot, and reheat. Repeat at least three times.

    3) To create image, ink your stamp with VersaMark ink (to avoid sticking) and press into warm layers of embossing powder.

  • Have your inked stamp ready to use immediately after the last time you heat the powder. If you wait too long, the embossing will harden to the point that you won't be able to create an impression with your stamp (if this does happen, simply reheat the card stock piece.)

  • Aprils Cards Class #4

So for my last card of this series I wanted to show you the Chalk Board Technique . You can see another example on page 7 of the mini catty.  This is just a fun little technique and you get the chalk board effect by using white craft ink on black card stock then you rub an embossing buddy over the top after you have completed your stamp. Fun!!! Leave a comment on how you liked this technique.

    April Card Class #3

Can you tell what other item I love? Yesterday I told you about my love of the Flower Trim well as you can see I have used these paper doilies on two cards.  The doilies are such a great value. You get 24 doilies for $2.95! Can't believe it! Anyway you cut one doilie  in half then layer the two halves on top of each other and gather. Stick it to the front of your card.
What do you think about the soda pop top? Not all of the soda pop tops will crush the same. See you send the soda pop top through the Big Shot (use platform- acrylic plates - NO tabs) and it crimps it perfectly!! I love this technique! The 1" circle punch fits perfectly in the center.

    New Colors!!!!

Do you dream in color? We do!
April 4, 2013 Announcing our Color Refresh! We love color and we know that you do too. Color is fundamental to who we are and what we offer. It's important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so we are thrilled to share our updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as we are by the new possibilities! Why now? In 2010 we did a big color renovation and shared our plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep our colors on trend. Well it has been three years and we are excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! We are welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!
Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. We did anticipate increased demand and based our forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone--including you.  So do not delay and order today at http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx
